Circuit Coder App Reviews

Deja vu?

Does anyone remember Rockys Boots?

Misleading

Part of the description as well as one of the reviews lead to the misbelief that this can be played without a hideously deep understanding of the subject. This is certainly not the case. Wish I could have my money back.

Great app!

Absolutely fantastic! I definitely would recommend this to others (and have!).

Good

I love making curcuits on this game!

Cool App, needs labels and selection groups!

Well done! Now just add labels and cut/copy/paste!!

Love this app

By far this is the the best of its kind, I am 16 and have been working on these for about 3 years, and I am self taught. I am currently working on an AI system, and a CPU. Although I wish there was a much bigger area for sandbox, because in my AI system, only the programming part, where you tell it whether the answer is right or wrong takes up half of the biggest board, and for my CPU my alu takes up almost half of the biggest board. I also wish some of the levels were able to be skipped because I want to get to some of the more advanced levels faster. Also please add more combinational levels, because I love working with functionality. Overall I think this is the best app to use when your not home and you cant use any bigger programs which is the case for me when Im at school and such. I also wish there was updates every here and there.

Amazing

I downloaded this on a whim after seeing programming apps-- wow this will work your brain. At first, I thought I couldnt even beat the first level, but now Im maybe 1/4 way through and this game is massively satisfying. Plus, you get to learn how computers really work at the most basic level. Its really something special, definitely a hidden gem of the App Store. Obviously, its not for anyone and everyone, only people who like logic and puzzles will get into this, but it you like that at all, this game couldnt be better.

Awesome Logic App

I love these puzzles very educational and satisfying when you figure them out.

Not for beginners

In addition to some ui issues which I found frustrating, I was disappointed that there werent better explanations of the concepts this app presents. Its pretty clear that the developers arent very good teachers, or at least that they have little interest in making this subject matter accessible to beginners. Directing custers to a website for tutorials seems lazy for a feature that should be included in the app.

Great introduction to circuit ideas

The exercises are fun and the information about the components is useful in understanding how to solve the problems. The interface is mostly great- sometimes I have trouble connecting two components because I cant see the connector under my fingertip. Great app!

Huh

I was interested, but it made me feel woefully uninformed.

Good app but some problems

I really like this app. However there is a problem. Im making a binary adder that converts the output to decimal and displays it on a 7-segment display. I was working on the display when it froze. Luckily I had saved it but I still cant finish it. Please help. This is still a great app though. I love it

More please

I was very happy to find this. Loved it. It would be nice to have a few very complex problems at the end

Logic Brainword

This app does a fantastic job at several things. 1. It engages you to form the fundamentals of logic gates and other signal processing basics from the ground up. Gamified science & engineering, hurrah! 2. Challenges you to solve higher level problems using the functional concepts learned along the way. That is how circuit design is done. If youve ever looked at the wiring diagram of an op-amp you probably wondered how anyone ever designed it. This app fosters that type of applied modularity. 3. Takes over your thoughts day and night as you struggle to figure out how to build a jk flip-flop using (mostly) only NAND gates! Cheers!

You will need a notebook.

Well maybe you will need one. Ive built most the circuits without having to draw up a truth table or two. It is challenging especially if you have no background in logic gates. If you want to learn try googling Fundamentals of Logic Design. You dont have to read the whole book to start doing the puzzles. Both together make a huge and powerful learning combination. This game definitely makes learning fun.

I like it

I want to learn this...so if I dont know anything, I google it and learn it and continue on...I like the interaction but you must know the definitions too,I feel.

Needs previous knowledge

The app description should clearly state that you need previous knowledge of the subject. You would not get that knowledge from the game. Otherwise it seems well done and polished.

Awesome but...

I love this app but I am working in sandbox on a calculator and I have 1 problem. You cant overlap signals so I have a huge project that wont work. So please allow overlapping of signals on LEDs and Output type items.

Clever interface, dreadful instructions

This is a clever little app that is fun to play with and probably could have been extremely useful for learning the basis of logic construction if the creators were as good at writing instructions as they are at writing code. Unfortunately, they are not, so instead what we have the an app that is fun to play with if you already have a working knowledge of things like nor gates and multiplexers, but can be frustratingly opaque if you dont. A perfect example of the why its rarely a good idea to let the programmer write the technical manual. My advice would be to skip unless you already have a grounding in the subject. A lot of unrealized potential here.

What happened to Team Sweyla?

Awesome, thought provoking app that is at once fun, engaging, and educational. A rare find.
